Nichiha expanding Macon factory and adding 100 new jobs in $150 million investment

Nichiha opened its Macon location in 2006.

MACON, Ga. — Nichiha USA is expanding its facility in Macon as part of a $150 million investment, according to a release from the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority.

There will be an additional 500,000 square feet added to the existing plant in Macon located at 3150 Avondale Mill Rd. Once completed there will be two plants and a new warehouse.

“For more than 16 years, Nichiha has been a staple international industry in Macon-Bibb County,” said Robby Fountain, Chairman of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority.  “The addition and expansion of their existing plant and the projected growth of their workforce speak to the great value that our community brings to Nichiha and all our existing industry partners.”

The expansion will also bring 100 new jobs, ranging from production to warehouse and management positions. It will allow Nichiha to design and build more products in the United States.

The location in Macon was the first in the country when it opened in 2006. The Japanese-owned company specializes in wall panels and other building materials.

“We are excited to expand our operations with state-of-the-art production technologies that allow us to make our award-winning Architectural Wall Panels right here in Macon,” said Hideto Yoshida, CEO of Nichiha USA. “This significant investment will support our efforts to serve our industry more efficiently as we continue to grow our business in North America.”
