North Carolina man arrested in Crisp County after leading deputies on chase

The man was arrested and taken to the Crisp County Detention Center.

CRISP COUNTY, Ga. — A man was arrested on Saturday after leading Crisp County deputies on a brief chase, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office. 

They say around noon a Crisp County deputy was doing a traffic stop on a grey Toyota Rav4 at the intersection of GA 30 W and Old Albany Road. The car was reported as stolen out of North Carolina.

The driver fled and led deputies on a chase through Cordele and onto the interstate. The chase continued into Dooly County where the driver lost control of the car and crashed at mile marker 108 on 401/I-75 near the rest area.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Crisp County Detention Center. 

After searching the stolen car, deputies found a bag of suspected marijuana, a bag and bar of suspected psilocybin, a checkbook, and a P-EBT car.

22-year-old Ronavon Kelley from Charlotte, North Carolina is facing charges of theft by bringing stolen property into the state, felon fleeing and attempt to elude, possession of marijuana and psilocybin with the intent to distribute, possession of psilocybin and two counts of fraud (financial identity).
