Robins Air Force Base hiring 800+ people. Here's how to navigate the job fair

Robins is holding a major hiring event at the Museum of Aviation at the end of April.

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — It takes all kinds of people and backgrounds to help Robins Air Force Base soar.

"You are part of a team that protects this country and safeguards the freedoms that we have and that we cherish within the United States," says Robert Hubbs, Deputy Director of the Missions Support Group at Robins.

He says that team needs more than 800 new members.

"Engineers, plumbers, financial management," he says.

Hubbs says they will be looking to fill those and so many other positions during a hiring event at the Museum of Aviation on April 30th.

If you want to stand out, he says make sure you have a good federal resume, which can sometimes be three to five pages long. He says make sure to include your current supervisor's information, your salary, and give in-depth details about your current position.

"What is the contribution, the action, and the impact of what you are doing? If we can see that in a resume, that puts you far ahead of others."

You can find templates on the USAJobs site.

He says if you pre-register for the hiring event, you should still bring at least 10 copies of your resume with you. If you do not pre-register, he says to bring 20-25 copies.

Some of the open positions fall under Direct Hire Authority. That means you could leave the event with a job offer in hand.

"Be prepared to have an interview, meaning dress professionally and be prepared to talk about yourself and the things that you have done," says Hubbs.

For the majority of open positions, you will talk to a recruiter at the event and they will review your resume after. They will reach back out to you if they think you are a good fit for the job.

"There would be an interview, you would get selected, you would receive some information, and then we would have to go through the hiring process."

Hubbs says the jobs come with great federal benefits like a pension, insurance, and competitive pay.

"They also have their own 401k program, which we call a Thrift Savings Plan, which has a match of up to 5%."

The hiring event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 30th at the Museum of Aviation. Hubbs says you will need to park across the street at Anchor Glass and busses will bring you to the museum. He says gates to the museum will not open before 8 a.m. and encourages people to come all throughout the day. There will be food trucks in the museum parking lot and the base will host three information workshops on resume writing and other tips.

More than 800 jobs are available at Robins.

Hubbs says you can register for the event ahead of time and upload your resume, but you do not have to. Nearly a thousand people have already pre-registered. You can find updated information on the hiring event and details on registering on the Robins website.
