Sheriff: 12-year-old boy killed in ATV crash in Washington County

Sheriff Joel Cochran says the boy, who was a passenger on the ATV, was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 12-year-old boy has died after ATV accident in Washington County.

According to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran, it happened on Mount Moriah Road outside of Riddleville Thursday afternoon. He says the boy, who was a passenger on the ATV, was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

The driver, also a 12-year-old, was taken to the emergency room with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.

This is Central Georgia's second ATV-related death in less than a week.

On Saturday, a 13-year-old girl died in a wreck in Dodge County. Sheriff Brian Robinson says she flipped her ATV in the woods behind her family home.
