State agency raids 3 Macon businesses for gambling, other crimes

The Georgia Department of Revenue says they were looking for evidence related to commercial gambling, money laundering, and other crimes

MACON, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Revenue raided at least three Macon businesses Tuesday for illegal gambling and other crimes.

Jessica Simmons with the Georgia Department of Revenue says for the past year they've been working with other agencies to investigate S&W Amusements and their coin-operated amusement machines.

Simmons says search warrants were carried out at businesses, residences, and corporate offices looking for evidence related to commercial gambling, money laundering, tax evasion, and the under-reporting of sales and use tax.

She confirmed three locations in Macon were raided:

  • Exxon at 2311 Pio Nono Avenue
  • Quick Serve at 1106 Rocky Creek Road
  • Exxon at 4290 Dellwood Drive

This comes after Macon's District Attorney David Cooke said in a press conference Monday that he wanted to ban the machines across the state.
