Woman accused of keeping dogs in 'horrible, unlivable conditions' arrested, one suspect on loose

The sheriff's office asked for the public's help finding the woman on Tuesday after they found a dead dog, snake and other emaciated pets, the sheriff's office said.

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A woman Monroe County Sheriff's Office has been on the lookout for was arrested Wednesday afternoon on animal cruelty charges, according to Anna Watkins with the sheriff's office.

It comes just one day after the sheriff's office asked for the public's help finding the woman, Sabrina Parks, and another suspect, Robert Wood. Wood is still at large, Watkins said.

In a previous press release, the sheriff's office said they responded to a home on Bar None Road on Sunday where they found animals held in "horrible, unlivable conditions," the press release said.

At the home, the sheriff's office says they found a dead dog in a kennel behind the home and a pet snake that appeared to have been eaten by another animal.

Monroe County Sheriff Brad Freeman accuses the couple of knowing that one of their dogs had been dead for at least a month.

They also found two small dogs and a cat who they described as "heavily emaciated with matted fur, large amounts of fecal matter stuck in their unkempt hair and smelling of urine," the release said. They also say they found a dog that "appeared as if it had not eaten in several weeks."

They also said feces and urine were covering a large portion of the floor.

Freeman confirmed to 13WMAZ that some of the dogs found are recovering Wednesday, at the Monroe County shelter.

Parks is charged with animal cruelty, Watkins said.

With Parks under arrest, the sheriff's office is still asking for the public's help finding Wood.

If you know where he is, the sheriff's office said you can contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit at 478-994-7593 or 478-994-7048. You may also contact them through Facebook, Instagram or the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office App, where you may remain anonymous.

13WMAZ's Cecily Stoute spoke to Sheriff Freeman about the case. You can hear that interview on 13WMAZ News at 10 and 11 Wednesday night.
