'I don't want to die': Wrecks at East Macon intersection scares woman, considering moving

'I gotta get out of here, I don't want to die," Artice Rozier says after a car accident left two crashed cars in her yard, inches away from two bedrooms

MACON, Ga. — An East Macon woman wants everyone to keep others in mind as they drive. She lives at the intersection of New Clinton Road and Pine Hill Drive.

Two years ago, she told us it was 'Driving Her Crazy.' 13WMAZ talked to her on Thursday after she says an accident could have cost her, her life.

Artice Rozier says, in the last 4 years she's seen nearly 20 wrecks nearby. Several have come through her yard, leaving her without her full fence, and with a new electrical pole.

"Even when there's an accident or there's been an accident, the cars still speed up, they will not slow down. They do not respect no one," she said.

Thursday morning after midnight, another accident left two cars in her yard again.

"I heard some crashing sounds outside, when I looked up in the camera, I saw two vehicles," she said.

One car drove over the curb, hit the street sign and landed near her sons room.

"I heard my son screaming from the back of the house, and when I came outside there was a bunch of folks screaming outside," she said.

Rozier found the other car crashed into her car port, which then rammed into her car. Missing her room by just a few inches. This all happened about 3 minutes after she walked inside for the night.

"My car is gone. It's gone. My car is no more. I don't have a car anymore," Rozier said.

She says she has a lot of doctors visits to attend, and recently paid this car off, now she has to find alternate transportation.

After four years with no change, she's ready to move.

"I gotta get out of here. I don't want to die, I don't want to die by being ran over. I don't want to be ran over, I don't want to be in the house inside of my bed, and a car comes through the room," she said. close to tears.

She's begging everyone to slow down.

"Please slow down. Stop speeding. Obey the signs. There are signs out here. The speed limit over here is 25," she said.

She says don't just slow down for others, but for yourself.

Back in 2021 when 13WMAZ first told you about the intersection, we asked the Bibb county traffic division about adding a red light. We were told they'd need to do a traffic study first, which a citizen would have to make a request for.

Thursday afternoon, traffic engineer Nigel Floyd says they haven't done a study at the intersection yet.
