Man dies days after being hit by car in Macon

The coroner's office says 37-year-old Jason Simmons died Sunday afternoon after being hit by a car last week

MACON, Ga. — A man who was in critical condition after being hit by a car last week died Sunday.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, the coroner's office says 37-year-old Jason Simmons passed away around 4:30 p.m.

Simmons was hit by a 17-year-old driver in a Toyota Camry last Wednesday near the intersection of Pierce Avenue and Sheffield Road. He was pushing a bike, trying to cross the road.

There are no charges against the teen driver at this time.
