My Teacher Is Tops: Mrs. Daniels, Ms. Lynn at Midway Hills Primary take home this week's award

Two teachers born and raised in Milledgeville were awarded top teachers at Midway Hills Primary.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Two teachers born and raised in Milledgeville were awarded top teachers at Midway Hills Primary, where students are in kindergarten, first and second grades.

Shertisha Daniels and Jameria Lynn teach the first grade and say their students are like their own kids.

Mrs. Daniels and Ms. Lynn were surprised and greeted with cheers and hugs from their first-grade students after being awarded the top teachers of Midway Hills Primary.

They originally came in as kindergarten teachers and fell in love with this class so much, that they decided they weren't done helping them learn and grow.

They moved up with them for the past two years, and now their students wanted to give back.

Ayden Mosely is in the first grade and wrote to the station to nominate his teachers.

"My teachers are sweet. They love us all and they teach us things we need to know to become smart. I love when my teachers cheer me on when I am doing good and I dislike when they take my dojo points. They come to school every day happy to see me and they were my teachers last year. They deserve the world and I am writing this letter to let them know how cool they are."

Mrs. Daniels and Ms. Lynn say these students have soared and getting ready for the Georgia milestones, they can't wait to see how much they continue to grow.

"We always persevere," Daniels said. "We always push through every day. We come here with an open mind, ready to learn, ready to work, learn and succeed each and every day. That is our motto. We saw their progress from last year and knew we needed at least one more year with them."

"Just to see so much progress from kindergarten all the way up to first grade, it's been great seeing the change," Lynn said. "Both of us are shocked! It just feels good knowing that parents and students think so much of us. I wouldn't rather have it any other way with any other teacher!"

Congratulations Mrs. Daniels and Ms. Lynn!
