WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — It's a new chapter ahead in the life of Jake Fromm -- heralded sports life full of faith and family that continues to unfold.
Many of those outside of Central Georgia are not new to the Jake Fromm name because it's been in households since his Little League days nearly 10 years ago, and that pride from the city of Warner Robins turned local restaurants into honoring Jake Fromm, the best way they know how by putting his favorites on the menu.
The Taco Shed in Warner Robins has the “Fromminator” in honor of the signal caller, a surf 'n' turf delight on a soft shell that is one of the eatery’s biggest sellers.
Taco Shed owner Derrick Baas explains why he honored Jake. “For sure, anybody in Houston County who does well I want to support. Jake just is one of a kind. He's been doing a great job at HoCo. I respect him and he's just a really good guy."
Of course, The Butcher Shop, also in Houston County, boasts the Fromm Burger. The ingredients include Jake’s favorites of certified Angus beef, bacon, swiss cheese, and mushrooms.
The Butcher Shop co-owner Amy Dean agrees with Baas and offers her motivation for the Fromm Burger. “It was just a way to honor him because we think he is the reason that turned the Bulldogs around. He's provided leadership, great attitude. Everybody is excited about us winning again. I mean, great guy, great example to people, and just a way we wanted to say, 'We appreciate you and honor you.'”
Both of these creations were born three years ago during Jake’s freshman year after he earned his first start versus Notre Dame.
The restaurants said those items were going to stay on the menu in 2020 whether Jake decided to stay or head to the NFL.
