Lake Blackshear Tornado confirmed to have tracked down Cedar Creek Rd. in Crisp County

The tornado touched down on the Lee-Crisp County line, before crossing the lake.

CRISP COUNTY, Ga. — According to the National Weather Service, an EF-1 tornado touched down on the Lee Crisp-County line on Lake Blackshear at 4:49 a.m. on Wednesday.

It touched down as a waterspout Lake Blackshear before crossing inland onto Cedar Creek Road N. 

Wind gusts up to 90 mph were suspected as the twister tacked down the road, and trees and powerlines came crashing down along the street.

The tornado weakened as it crossed a cove in the lake before it increased into an EF-1 tornado again. 85 mph winds were possible on the eastern side of the cove. 

Then, the tornado took a north-westerly track toward Coney Road S. where it weakened. 

It crossed some rural fields before crossing McKinney Road & Slade Road. It continued to cross Old Albany Road and then lifted back into the air at 4:56 a.m. 

There were no major injuries reported. 

Parts of Crisp County are still recovering from the damage caused by the storm.
