'A good man gone too soon': Laurens County man found dead in home

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are trying to figure out who killed J.W. Robinson in his home on Sunday.

LAURENS COUNTY, Ga. — A Laurens County family wants to figure out what happened to their father and friend after he was found dead inside his home.

Sabrina Burse spoke to a neighbor and the man's family members who say they don't know who would want to hurt him.

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are trying to figure out who killed J.W. Robinson in his home on Sunday.

Captain Chris Bracewell with the sheriff's office says it happened in the eastern part of the county on Salter Moon Road.

Childhood friend Lamar Waters says the death stunned the whole neighborhood.

"It's something that you don't think could happen to someone like that, but I was real sad for it, mostly for the kids and the family. They are all good people," said Waters.

Robinson's family didn't want to speak on camera, but they called him a fun-loving guy. Investigators would not comment on his wounds or injuries.

Robinson's daughter says not knowing what exactly happened is troubling. Robinson was 67 years old.

"I feel sad for the family, you know? This is a total shock to everybody. He was a good man gone too soon," Waters said.

Waters says Robinson kept to himself, but called him a kind man he'd shared good memories with. "Worked together, rode together, played together, ride together, did a lot of things together in life. Just a good man."

Bracewell says the sheriff's office has a couple of possible suspects, but they haven't made any arrests.

Lindsay Wilkes with the GBI says Robinson's autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
