Woman dead after shooting at Macon home, Bibb Sheriff's Office says

They say it happened just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

MACON, Ga. — A woman is dead after a shooting in a Macon home Wednesday night, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

They say it happened at a home in the 2300 block of Montpelier Avenue.

A call reporting a possible shooting came into the E-911 Emergency Center at around 6:10 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found a 49-year-old woman suffering a singular gunshot wound.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and took the woman to Atrium Health Navicent in critical condition, the sheriff's office said.

According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, the victim, Ernestine Frye, was pronounced dead at around 7:04 p.m.

No one else was injured during the shooting.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is still investigating what led up to the shooting.

If you have any information, the sheriff's office asks that you call the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME or the sheriff's office at 478-741-755.
