3 people charged in murder of 16-year-old in Milledgeville; 2 suspects on the run, police say

Three people — ranging from 14 to 18 years old — are accused of killing 16-year-old Desmond Rivers. He was found shot to death in the front seat of a Toyota Corolla.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — The Milledgeville Police Department is looking for an 18-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy who are both charged with the murder of 16-year-old Desmond Rivers.

Derquavious Kier is charged with felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and four counts of aggravated assault, the Milledgeville Police Department said on Facebook

They also say a 14-year-old faces the same charges, but they are not releasing his name.

Currently, they say Kier and the 14-year-old are still at large.

But on Sunday, the Milledgeville Police Department arrested another person on murder, aggravated assault and gun charges.

On Sunday, the Milledgeville Police Department's Special Response Team executed a search warrant on Belfair Drive and arrested 17-year-old Dillon Chapman.

Rivers was found dead in the 2400 block of Anthony Way on Saturday at around 12:30 p.m. They say multiple homes and cars were hit by gunfire.

They say shots were fired from a blue Toyota Corolla and a red Dodge Charger.

When they arrived, they found Rivers in the front passenger seat of the Toyota Corolla shot to death.

A Baldwin County Deputy then saw a red Dodge Charger on Dunlap Road riddled with bullet holes, the police department said on Facebook. The four people in the car were detained and taken to the Baldwin County Jail for questioning.

It is unclear if any of those four people were charged with any crimes.

If you have any information, the Milledgeville Police Department says you can call the department's detective bureau at 478-414-4090 and request to speak to lead detective Nick Reonas.

They also say you can send anonymous tips at 478-414-4413 or by calling the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 478-742-2330.
